This process begins with an injection of a cocktail mixture that provides pain relief, anxiety relief and sedation. This ensures your pet is in a peaceful emotional, physical and mental place during their final moments. Depending on the size of your pet, an intravenous catheter may be placed and when the family is ready, the final injection is administered and we say goodbye.
A paw imprint will be made with your pet’s name, and if requested, a fur clipping can be taken. The next step includes decisions on after-care. Cremation is recommended, with options for private cremation, where remains are processed by themselves so ashes can be returned home, or group cremation, where ashes are not able to be returned home. Copper’s IVC works with local crematories that are trusted to provide respectful and compassionate care towards your pet, and often are able to bring pets home within a week’s time. These services include an urn for your loved one to come home in, and if requested, additional paw prints, ink prints, and fur clippings can be made.
